Want to Start Climbing? You Must Know What is the Nature Lover's Code of Conduct

 Kode Etik Pecinta Alam

Not only doctors, officials, presidents, or workers who have professions in this world who have a code of ethics. It turns out that nature lovers also have a code of ethics and not a few contemporary climbers do not understand or even know the code of ethics for nature lovers.

In fact, as a climber who is a nature lover, he should understand this code of ethics. So that you can become a true nature lover and not just a selfish nature climber who just follows along and even carves a trail on a tree, rock, or climbing post facility with marker ink, carved or with other tools, the cool language of vandalism is that it only cares about its existence without caring about nature.

Or even the worst of all picking the edelweiss flowers at the top of the mountain to take home and give to someone special. Of course, this is very unfortunate and it is proper as climbers we know what the code of ethics is as nature lovers so that we and nature go hand in hand and no one is harmed. Because we are nature lovers, not nature destroyers like those who clear forests for their interests.

History of the Code of Conduct for Nature Lovers

History records that in January 1974 around 44 associations or communities of nature lovers throughout Indonesia gathered together in the IV Nature Lovers National Rehearsal. The activity, which was held on Khayangan Island and Tana Toraja, was a grand gathering of nature lovers throughout Indonesia.

Activities organized by the Cooperation Agency of the Intermaja Nature Lovers Club in Ujung Pandang this activity becomes a training ground to improve knowledge, skills, and the ability to survive and engage in outdoor activities. At the same time, it is a gathering place for nature lovers throughout Indonesia.

In this activity, the code of ethics for nature lovers was first promulgated and established with the aim that nature is maintained and nature lovers can carry out activities comfortably. The following is the contents of the code of ethics for nature lovers.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR NATURAL LOVERS

"INDONESIA NATURE LOVERS AWARE THAT NATURE AND ITS CONTENTS ARE CREATED OF GOD ALMIGHTY"

"INDONESIAN NATURE LOVERS AS PART OF THE INDONESIAN COMMUNITY ARE AWARE OF OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GOD, NATION AND THE COUNTRY"

"INDONESIA LAM LOVERS AWARE THAT NATURE LOVERS ARE AS CREATIONS WHO LOVE NATURE AS A GRACE OF GOD ALMIGHTY"

By the above essence, we consciously state:

1. Serving God Almighty.
2. Preserve nature and its contents and use natural resources according to their needs.
3. Serving the Nation and Homeland.
4. Respect the life order that applies to the surrounding community and respect humans and their relatives.
5. Trying to strengthen the ties of brotherhood between nature lovers by the principle of nature lovers
6. Trying to help and respect each other in the implementation of service to God, the Nation, and the Motherland.
7. Done.

Endorsed together in

GLADIAN IV – 1974 In Ujung Pandang

This code of ethics is still used and must be obeyed by nature lovers and must be obeyed by the Mapala organization and various other nature lovers communities without exception for those of you who climb mountains personally. Because all those who engage in outdoor activities, be it mountain climbing or other activities, are nature lovers and must obey this code of ethics.

In addition to adhering to the code of ethics for nature lovers above. we must also know about universally applicable environmental ethics. Here are 3 environmental ethics that we must apply while in the wild.

Environmental Ethics

Take nothing but the picture / forbidden to take anything but photos
Leave nothing but footprint
Kill nothing but time / forbidden to kill anything but time

Of course, these 3 environmental ethics are the benchmark and must be carried out when carrying out activities in the wild. So if you can't or find it hard to apply the code of ethics for nature lovers and the 3 environmental ethics above, it's better to just lie down at home. And don't pretend to be a nature lover for the sake of mere existence and even destroy nature itself.

Because nature lovers are friends for nature itself, not enemies.
